What are the strengths and weaknesses as English teachers

 In this class, I learned from Mr.M that how teachers think about how to teach English.
And Mr.JH lectured us how to teach another language as sacond language.
We learned easy Spanish from him and we understood how the biginners feel in learning L2.

◇Strengths◇
 The English teachers can speak English, so they can invite guest teacher from other country in the class (for example,ALTs).
They will entertain the students with meeting other culture.
And it can not do in other classes.
Using English,we can touch with people and culture from many other countries.

○Weaknesses○
 In most of the class, the teachers speaks English.
If students can not understand the meanings,they can not follow the class because they do not know what the teacher explain and indicate.
And if there are some students in the class who can understand English explains and indications, other students who can not understand the content of the activities in English will do not want to do activities by theirselves, I think.

 So I think in the important part of the class,it is necessary for the teachers to speak in Japanese briefly.
Even when the teachers speak in English, They must be carefull about the speaking speed and easiness of the listening.

About Groupwork and Pairwork

①About Groupwork

When I was a Jr. high school student, we tried groupwork in Japanese class.
Then, we thought about the feelings of the character.
We made a group but, we don't know how to start the talking, and each one in the group didn't want to be a fa cilitater because we were shy.
With the teacher's help,we could talk with after.

And once,we had no activity between the groupwork because we were accustomed to work in group and tend to speak with one's friends.

Teachers need to control the works each group.

But it wasn't in the class, I attended to the grade assembly.
Our discussion was too hot to decide nothing.
It went around in circles.
It was very good thing,I think, but someone should find compromise and give way.
Then, I think groupwork will goes well.


②About Pairwork

 
When I pairworked with my friend,our opinion was the same and discussion finished soon.
I asked him the reason why he think so and we spoke.
The relationship between the pair affect to the work greatly.

And there are not various ideas, so it is good in the point of saying one's ideas. They can listen to another ideas and speak oneself's ideas deeply.


So when teachers want to take many point of view in the class,groupwork will suit, I think.
But then, teachers want the students to discuss deeply, pairwork will suit,I think.

From Mr.M's Lecture

Mr.M gave us a class on last thursday.
He is a teacher in junior high school, and teach English.
I was interested in his teaching.


In the class, he showed the differences between elementary school and junior high school.
He does only direct about the activities and hand papers and pens out.
We make the class almost and our answer connect to the class learning.
I felt it wonderful because I can feel our thinking are admitted.I think this feelings are important for the students also.
If they feel like me, they enjoy the class more.
So all of teachers make the class must take part in the activity.

For example, Mr.M make groups with 3 or 4 people.
The members in a group have his/her own number and each person must explain the result of each number when he return to the group.
It makes them more responsible because if one people can't explain in the group, it is equal that they can't solve the problems.
And he told us "Even if you have not confidence on your life, you must act A TEACHER when you are with the students."His words impressed theirselves deeply on me.

Finally, his lecture was very important for me.And I also thought that I wanted to take his class when I was a junior high school student.
I want to make a class like him, and I want to be told the words like me.
